Entering its fourth year, the Lake Macquarie One Act Play Festival has evolved into a vibrant celebration of fresh storytelling, with playwrights contributing new work from across Lake Macquarie and the wider Hunter region, as well as America, New Zealand and beyond - all competing for a share of the $1,900 prize pool.
This year’s lineup brings together a bold mix of sharp, spirited and thought‑provoking one‑act plays that highlight the richness of contemporary theatre. With its growing reputation, Warners Bay Theatre has become a welcoming stage for playwrights and performers who are pushing boundaries and bringing big ideas to life.
This year, audiences can experience all twelve plays in one unforgettable afternoon. Expect an eclectic theatrical ride exploring themes from absurdist game show chaos and expatriate encounters over Vegemite in Paris, to grief, friendship, and the age-old lamington dilemma - to eat or to sell?"
From satirical comedy to poignant drama, each play promises moments that will make you laugh, cry, and see the world differently.
An expert panel of judges will award prizes for Outstanding Play Performance, Outstanding Actor, and Youth Actor Encouragement, recognizing excellence in both writing and performance.
Festival Director Charlotte De Wit returns with her unwavering commitment to nurturing regional talent.
Join us at Warners Bay Theatre, baramayiba on Saturday 28 March 2pm.
