Lake Mac Action Fest

Two speedboats race across a blue lake, leaving white trails. A distant shoreline with houses and trees is under a clear blue sky.

High-speed boats, jaw-dropping stunts, a 15-kilometre run, surfing and family fun will hit the city this spring as Lake Macquarie City Council presents Lake Mac Action Fest.

Formerly known as Fast and Loud, the re-imagined festival will bring a wider variety of entertainment to Lake Macquarie on Saturday 18 - Sunday 19 October, while ringing true to its roots of adrenaline and spectacle.

Lake Macquarie City Council Manager Arts, Culture and Tourism Jacqui Hemsley said crowds can expect to see the lake come alive with speedboats carving through water and super boat races taking place on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October, as well as the Australian Formula Powerboat GP running from 9am each day, launching from Rathmines Park.

For the first time, the Action Fest lineup will include the Morisset Agricultural Show at Morriset Showground. The true country show is set to feature horses, dogs, cattle, poultry, and goats. Explore exhibits showcasing local art, horticulture, craft, cooking and fresh produce, alongside carnival rides, show bags, woodchopping, horse shows and more! On Saturday evening, visitors can expect bull riding competitions, fireworks, live entertainment, food stalls and more at the special rodeo event, kicking off at 6pm.

Australia’s best junior surfers will battle it out at Redhead Beach at Let’s Surf Lake Mac, fighting for a chance to secure their spots at the World Junior Championships. The Pro Junior Surf competition aims to provide pathways for young surfers to join the World Junior Surf Championships.

Everyone is invited to run, walk or stroll for 15 kilometres at the Fernleigh 15 event on Sunday 19 October and soak up the beauty of the former rail line through Newcastle to Lake Macquarie.  Tackle the full course solo or in a team, with relay options covering two to four-kilometre legs.
