The Hunter Valley's favourite celebration of wine, beer, and gourmet food is back - bigger and better than ever!

Returning to Rydges Resort Hunter Valley on Saturday, 12 July, the 2025 Hunter Valley Wine & Beer Festival will showcase over 45 of the region's best wineries, distillers, brewers, and food artisans. And for the first time ever, the festivities will kick off the night before with a very special guest: Miguel Maestre.

This marks the 13th year of what has become one of the Hunter Valley's most anticipated annual events, drawing food and wine enthusiasts from across New South Wales and beyond. The festival has grown significantly since its humble beginnings to become a regional celebration that perfectly captures the essence of what makes the Hunter Valley so special: exceptional produce, passionate winemakers, distillers, and brewers, as well as genuine hospitality.

This year's festival weekend launches in style with an exclusive Friday night dinner on Friday, 11 July, hosted by celebrity chef, restaurateur, and TV favourite Miguel Maestre. Known for his passion, humour, and incredible flavour combinations, Miguel will lead an intimate evening of storytelling, shared plates, and Hunter Valley hospitality. The charismatic chef, who has become a household name through his television appearances and cookbook successes, brings his infectious enthusiasm and culinary expertise to create what promises to be an unforgettable evening.

The three-course feast, crafted by leading local chefs, including Matthew Dillow (Gartelmann Wines) and Ashleigh Hedger (The Gates at Leogate), will feature the region's finest produce, each dish thoughtfully paired with premium Hunter wines. Each chef brings their unique perspective and expertise to showcase local ingredients at their peak. A generous four-hour beverage package will keep glasses full and spirits high, ensuring the evening flows as smoothly as the region's famous Semillon.

On Saturday, 12 July, festivalgoers can sip and savour their way through tastings from iconic Hunter wineries like Pepper Tree, Allandale, and Leogate Estate, plus boutique favourites including Gundog, Gartelmann, and Elbourne Wines. Craft beer enthusiasts can explore frothy offerings from Sydney Brewery, Zymurgy Brewing, and more, reflecting the growing craft beer movement that has found a natural home alongside the valley's rich wine heritage. Spirit lovers won't miss out either, with Phoenix Distilling Co. and Pants Off Distillery shaking things up with their artisanal gins, vodkas, and unique Australian spirits.

New this year, Miguel returns to the spotlight on Saturday to present a must-see masterclass pairing mouthwatering bites with his brand-new Rubia Pale Ale—a bold, refreshing brew that's sure to turn heads. This exciting addition to Miguel's repertoire showcases his versatility beyond the kitchen, demonstrating how the boundaries between food and beverage continue to blur in exciting ways. From food and beer matching to guided wine tastings, the Masterclass Stage will be buzzing with flavour and flair all day, offering educational experiences that cater to both novices and connoisseurs.

With live music from Kuta Groove Duo in the afternoon followed by Fifth Whiskey Band, acoustic melodies provide the ideal backdrop for afternoon tastings. The festival remains family-friendly, with free entry for children under 18 accompanied by an adult. A Kids Activity Zone day pass can be purchased for just $10, featuring train rides, face painting, and a jumping castle. This commitment to inclusivity ensures that the entire family can enjoy the Hunter Valley experience together.

Getting there is easy with Sip & Trip Transfers, which run from Newcastle and East Maitland for just $25 each day. And with free onsite parking, Rydges Resort is your one-stop destination for the perfect winter weekend escape. These practical arrangements reflect the festival's commitment to accessibility and convenience, removing barriers that might prevent people from enjoying this celebration of regional excellence.

The festival will once again support the local Rural Fire Service with fundraising activities throughout the day, demonstrating the event's commitment to giving back to the community that makes it all possible. Tickets are $34 (students $29 with a valid ID) and include entry to the festival, a complimentary first drink (up to a $8 value), a souvenir wine glass, access to over 50 tasting stalls, live music, masterclasses, and more.
